Stop the massacre of Iranian opposition in Camp Ashraf PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 03 August 2009

ImageStatement by Lord Maginnis of Drumglass: It is a matter of total incomprehension that the United Kingdom and U.S. Governments seem to be incapable or unwilling to intervene in the Iraqi onslaught against Camp Ashraf refugees.

Stop the massacre of Iranian opponents in Ashraf PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 30 July 2009

ImageStatement by Lord Maginnis of Drumglass: It is so illogical that, amid the confusion over how it should support operations in Afghanistan and bearing in mind the impending enquiry as to whether its engagement in Iraq was based on justifiable cause, that our Government should be so insensitive to the needs Iranian refugees in Camp Ashraf in Iraq.

House of Lords debate on Iran: Missile Threat PDF Print E-mail
Wednesday, 28 February 2007
ImageLord Corbett of Castle Vale: My Lords, can the Minister confirm that there are parallel concerns over Iran’s development of long-range missiles? That, of course, refers to its illicit and deceitful development of nuclear weapons. Can he tell the House, in broad terms if necessary, what was agreed at the meeting of the Ministers yesterday in trying to frame a new resolution for the Security Council to signal to the Iranian regime that the international community and the region of which it is a part will not tolerate it developing nuclear weapons?

Contribution by Mr. David Drew, MP to debate on Iran in House of Commons PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 27 February 2007
ImageMr. Drew: I thank the hon. Gentleman and I will be very brief. Before he finishes, would he like to mention the role of the opposition in Iran and in particular the proscription of the People’s Mujaheddin Organisation of Iran, which I am sure will be mentioned later in the debate? That is a key issue.

Contribution by Mr. Andrew Mackinlay, MP to debate on Iran in House of Commons PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 27 February 2007
ImageMr. Mackinlay: The PMOI cannot with any legitimacy be charged with being a military or terrorist organisation. It is simply not true, and the British Government acknowledge that. What is perverse is that the British Government, along with other EU countries, are still resisting taking the organisation off the terror list.

Contribution by Mr. David Amess, MP to debate on Iran in House of Commons PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 27 February 2007

ImageMr. Amess: I agree with the hon. Members for Stroud and for Thurrock, and my hon. Friend the Member for Northampton, South that, in the light of the recent judgment by the European Court of Justice, we should support the People’s Mujaheddin Organisation of Iran.

Contribution by Mr. Brian Binley, MP to debate on Iran in House of Commons PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 27 February 2007
ImageMr. Binley: The NCRI leader, Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, is equally committed to what she calls the third option: no military intervention in Iran and no appeasement, but de-proscription of all those Iranians who have come together in exile to work against the present regime, which has proved so harmful to the Iranian people themselves and which is a threat to world peace.

Contribution by Mr. Roger Gale, MP to debate on Iran in House of Commons PDF Print E-mail
Tuesday, 27 February 2007
ImageMr. Gale: I believe that most of us would now agree, however we voted at that time, that if there is to be regime change in Iran, it must be brought about internally. If that is the case, is it not perverse that many of those who might seek to bring about such change are proscribed?

House of Lords Debate on Iran PDF Print E-mail
Monday, 26 February 2007
ImageLord Wedderburn of Charlton: My Lords, the Minister speaks of keeping channels open. Will the Government renew their support for groups inside Iran that are pressing peacefully for democratic change? Will they reconsider the freezing of their assets in the way that is objectionable in the light of a court of the European Union in Luxembourg?

House of Lords debate on Iraq PDF Print E-mail
Thursday, 22 February 2007
ImageBaroness Turner of Camden: The present Iraqi Government do not seem able to provide stability, which is what most Iraqis want. The United States Government seem to be attributing much of the unrest to the influence of Iran. For that reason, I am surprised that our Government continue to proscribe the PMOI—the People’s Mujaheddin Organisation of Iran—a peaceable organisation supported by many women.
