The British Committee for Iran Freedom (BCFIF) strongly condemns the public executions of Amirhossein Safari and Abolfazl Sepahi in Isfahan today, together with the execution of Mehdi Khanki and the continuing wave of executions across Iran. These barbaric acts constitute grave violations of fundamental human rights and form part of the Iranian regime's systematic policy of repression, intimidation, and the silencing of dissent.

The public execution of two young men in Isfahan marks yet another shocking escalation in the regime's use of the death penalty as an instrument of fear and public intimidation. Such medieval practices are intended to terrorise society and discourage growing public demands for freedom, justice, and democratic change.

The sharp increase in executions comes at a time when the Iranian people are demanding fundamental political and social change. The regime's increasing reliance on executions and brutality is not a sign of strength but a reflection of its deepening crisis and growing fear of renewed nationwide protests and organised public resistance.

BCFIF unequivocally condemns these crimes and calls for the investigation and prosecution of all perpetrators and officials responsible, including those within the regime's judiciary, security, and political apparatus who have ordered, facilitated, or carried out these executions.

We demand an immediate halt to all executions in Iran and the unconditional release of all political prisoners. We further call for urgent international action to protect prisoners currently facing imminent execution, including those whose death sentences place them at immediate risk. Every day of inaction increases the danger of further irreversible loss of life.

The British Committee for Iran Freedom (BCFIF) calls for the Iranian regime's systematic violations of human rights to be referred to the United Nations Security Council. The widespread and systematic use of the death penalty as an instrument of political repression demands a decisive international response, and those responsible for these crimes must be held accountable under international law, including for crimes against humanity.

We urge the UN Special Rapporteur on the situation of human rights in Iran, the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights, the European Union, and democratic governments to publicly condemn these executions and take immediate and effective measures to halt the regime's machinery of executions and repression.

We also call for the dispatch of an independent international fact-finding mission to investigate the ongoing executions, torture, arbitrary detentions, enforced disappearances, and other serious human rights violations committed by the Iranian authorities.

The execution of individuals arrested in connection with nationwide protests, particularly those detained during popular uprisings, constitutes one of the gravest forms of political persecution and may amount to crimes against humanity. The longstanding impunity enjoyed by the Iranian regime's leaders must come to an end through effective international accountability mechanisms, including the application of the principle of universal jurisdiction.

Today, the central conflict in Iran is between a people seeking freedom and democracy and a repressive, anti-human-rights, authoritarian regime. Those primarily responsible for these crimes are the regime's security and military institutions, foremost among them the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), which remains the principal instrument of domestic repression, executions, and regional destabilisation.

The British Committee for Iran Freedom (BCFIF) calls on the Government of the United Kingdom, democratic nations, the European Union, and the United Nations to take firm and concrete measures in support of the Iranian people and to hold the Iranian regime accountable for its crimes. Continued silence and inaction serve only to embolden the authorities to intensify executions and repression. The time for expressions of concern has passed; coordinated international action is now urgently required.
