PRESS RELEASE - A cross-party group of lawmakers from both Houses of Parliament on Wednesday denounced recent systematic human rights violations by the Iranian regime and urged the British Government and the European Union to impose comprehensive sanctions against Tehran.

{mosimage}A UK Parliamentary delegation urged the Council of the European Union to abide by the ruling of the Court of the First Instance of the European Communities, which removed the main component of the Iranian Resistance, the People's Mojahedin of Iran (PMOI), from its terrorist list. The delegation representing the British Parliamentary Committee of Iran Freedom, including its chairman, Lord Corbett of Castle Vale, and Lord Clarke of Hampstead, held talks with Mrs. Maryam Rajavi, President-elect of the National Council of Resistance of Iran, at her residence in Auvers-sur-Oise, France, on Sunday, 10 June 2007.

"These remarks show contempt for the rule of law but confirm the EU’s blacklisting of the PMOI since 2002 was illegal."
