THE appointment of a new Foreign Secretary at the recent reshuffle provides the opportunity for the United Kingdom to review its post-Brexit approach to foreign policy.

The appointment of Liz Truss as Foreign Secretary inspires hope that she will be more inclined than her predecessors to hold senior figures in the Iranian regime accountable for the crimes of the past.

As Winston Churchill famously declared, “Courage is rightly esteemed the first of human qualities, because it is the quality which guarantees all others."

Global Britain should now display the moral courage to call out the Iranian leadership for their crimes and insist that they be held accountable for the dreadful events of 1988. From there, we should “build back better” our foreign policy approach to rogue nations.
